Newcastle boss Eddie Howe made it clear that, at least on paper, the club remains in control of Isak’s future.

Speaking during a press conference on Tuesday as per Skysports, Howe stated, “He is still our player. He’s contracted to us. We, to a degree, control what is next for him.”

This contractual security offers Newcastle crucial leverage.

Isak’s current deal gives the club the legal and financial power to either retain him or demand a significant fee if he does push for a move.

Without a release clause reportedly in place, the Magpies are under no obligation to sell on Liverpool’s terms.

Despite Liverpool’s admiration for Isak and reports of informal contact, Newcastle are yet to receive any formal approach from any club.

This was also emphasized by Howe, stating, “We have not received a formal offer for Alex, from any club.”

This puts the club in a relatively calm position as there is no active pressure or bidding war forcing their hand.

Without a formal bid, any departure talk remains speculative, allowing Newcastle to continue planning for the season with Isak in their ranks.

While Howe admitted that the situation is not entirely in his control, he made no secret of his preference:

“My wish is that he stays, but that’s not in my full control. I would love to believe all possibilities are still available to us.”

The manager’s personal commitment to keeping Isak is important.

Howe has built a team with Isak as a key attacking component, and losing him now could disrupt Newcastle’s plans as they aim to compete in both domestic and European campaigns.

Although Isak has reportedly informed the club that he is exploring his options and will not feature in Newcastle’s pre-season tour the lack of a concrete offer, his current contract, and the backing of his manager all contribute to Newcastle’s sense of control.
