PETRO DE LUANDA - (ANGOLA)

Sergio Valdeolmillos - Head Coach (Spain)

• An accomplished Spanish coach with more than three decades of international experience, currently leading Petro de Luanda.

• He joined Petro in March 2024, replacing José Neto, and won the 2024 BAL championship in his debut season, followed by an Angolan national treble in 2024–25 (league, cup, super cup).

• Valdeolmillos previously coached in Spain’s LEB and ACB leagues, Mexico’s national team, and several global clubs. He led Mexico to the 2013 FIBA Americas Championship, participated in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup, and coached the 2014 Centrobasket champions.

• He also earned LNBP Coach of the Year (2022) and CIBACOPA champion (2022) with Astros de Jalisco before moving to Africa.

Childe Dundão – Captain (Angola)

• Is one of the most decorated point guards in African basketball.

• A 2024 BAL champion, four time All BAL Defensive Team selection, and the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket MVP, Dundão has anchored Petro’s backcourt since 2016.

• Internationally, he has represented Angola at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, 2024 Olympic Qualifiers, and multiple FIBA AfroBasket tournaments, leading Angola to the 2025 AfroBasket title with standout performances, including a 30 point quarterfinal game.

Mamadou “Pabi” Gueye - Head Coach (Senegal)

• Mamadou “Pabi” Gueye is one of Africa’s most respected coaches, known for leading Senegal’s AS Douanes to seven national championships and to the 2023 BAL Finals, where he was named BAL Coach of the Year.

• A former professional player with a 20 year career, he has coached Senegal’s senior national team and served as assistant coach during multiple international cycles, including AfroBasket 2021 qualification.

• Gueye joined Dar City in October 2025, tasked with leading the Tanzanian champions through the Road to BAL and into their BAL debut, leveraging his extensive continental experience.

Hasheem Thabeet – Captain (Tanzania)

• Is a globally recognized center and the No. 2 overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, who played for the Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, and Oklahoma City Thunder across a 5 year NBA career.

• During his NCAA career at the University of Connecticut, he was a dominant defensive force before transitioning to the NBA. After the NBA, he played internationally before joining African club competitions.

• Known for his elite rim protection (210 career NBA blocks) and paint defense, Thabeet remains one of the most experienced players in the BAL and anchors Dar City’s interior presence.

Ahmed Soliman - Head Coach (Egypt)

• Is a veteran Egyptian coach who previously led Al Ittihad Alexandria to a fourth place finish in the 2025 BAL season before taking over Al Ahly Ly.

• A former Egyptian international, Soliman represented Egypt at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, bringing valuable global experience to his coaching methods.

• Under his leadership, Al Ahly Ly has become one of North Africa’s strongest sides, returning in 2026 after a dominant 7–0 Road to BAL run.

Jean Jacques Boissy (Senegal)

• Senegalese point guard and graduate of NBA Academy Africa

• BAL champion (2025) and BAL Most Valuable Player (MVP), also the league’s 2025 scoring champion

• Named to the All BAL First Team (2023) and BAL All Defensive First Team (2023, 2025), plus All Defensive Second Team (2024)

Florsheim Ngwenya - Head Coach (South Africa)

• “Flosh” Ngwenya is widely considered South Africa’s most successful basketball coach, with five BNL championships and multiple national titles.

• A former head coach of the South African national team (2007–2011), he led the team at AfroBasket 2011 and returned to the national program in 2023 as men’s head coach.

• Ngwenya helped the Cape Town Tigers qualify for the BAL twice and finish fourth in the 2024 BAL season before co founding the Johannesburg Giants in 2025, leading them to a national championship in their debut season.

• Current basketball coach at St Stithians College (Boys)

• Coached the SA National U19 (Boys) Basketball Team during the FIBA AfroBasket U19 in Pretoria in 2025.

• In the 2023 BAL season, he served as the Tigers' assistant coach under Rasheed Hazzard. Former Assistant coach of the Tigers before being promoted to Head Coach

Captain: Pieter Prinsloo – Captain (South Africa)

• Is a seasoned South African originally from Pretoria.

• An international and NCAA Division I alumnus who played four years at Marist College (2010–2014) before a professional career spanning El Salvador, Nicaragua, Bolivia, Spain, Venezuela, Chile, Mozambique, Nigeria, and South Africa.

• He competed in the 2022 and 2023 BAL seasons with Cape Town Tigers and posted a BAL career high 30 points with MBB in 2025 before signing with the Johannesburg Giants.

• Prinsloo has represented South Africa at AfroBasket 2017, where he averaged 12.4 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.

NAIROBI CITY THUNDER – KENYA

Bradley Ibs - Head Coach (USA)

• Is the head coach behind Nairobi City Thunder’s rise as one of East Africa’s strongest clubs. Under his leadership, Thunder became the first Kenyan team to qualify for the BAL (2024) and secured back to back BAL qualifications in 2025 and 2026.

• He was named Betika/SJAK Coach of the Month (Nov 2025) after leading Thunder to a historic 109–70 win over Mozambique’s Ferroviário da Beira, becoming the first Elite 16 East team to surpass 100 points that season.

• Ibs has nearly two decades of coaching experience in Kenya and is known for transforming Thunder into a disciplined, fast paced BAL contender.

Tylor Ongwae – Captain (Kenya)

• Kenyan international forward and long time leader of the Morans.

• NCAA Division I alumnus from the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

• Played professionally across Europe, including Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and Estonia.

• Former BAL participant with REG (Rwanda).

• Brings veteran experience, scoring ability, and leadership to Nairobi City Thunder.

• Widely regarded as one of Kenya’s most accomplished basketball exports.
