2025 USA Track and Field Championships: Noah Lyles ties Michael Johnson's record as multiple title winners
Following another successful title defense at the 2025 USA Track and Field Championships, Noah Lyles is now tied with Michael Johnson in a legendary league of multiple title winners.
In a highly contested men's 200m final, Lyles powered to the win, clocking a blistering world-leading time of 19.63s (0.2) to defeat Kenny Bednarek in 19.67s. Robert Gregory ran a massive Personal Best (PB) of 19.80s to finish third.

The trio secured their spots on the US 200m team for the World Championships in Tokyo, where they'll face the world's best in the event for possible podium placements.
Consequently, with his victory, Lyles made it his fifth consecutive national title in the 200m, strengthening his hold as one of the greatest American sprinters in history.
He also tied the legendary Johnson and Ralph Metcalfe's record for the most US outdoor men's 200m titles.
Lyles - 2019, 2021, 2022, 2024, and 2025
Johnson - 1990, 1991, 1992, 1995, and 1996
Metcalfe - 1932, 1933, 1934, 1935, and 1936
Lyles' American record of 19.31 seconds is the third fastest in world history, highlighting his path to becoming one of the greatest sprinters in the sport.

Aside from being the Olympic 100m champion, the 28-year-old is the reigning world 100m and 200m champion. He'd be gunning to successfully defend both titles at the World Championships in Tokyo this September.
