“It is the first time I’ll have played golf in Africa and the course here at Muthaiga Golf Club is world-class. I didn’t think I’d ever get the opportunity, so I’m really excited to experience Kenya," said Kipp Popert, one of the tournament’s favourites and eight-time winner of the Golf For Disable circuit.

“Participation in Golf, for players with disability globally, has grown significantly over the last decade. Golf bodies globally have played a significant role in the growth of Golf For Disabled by ensuring rules are relaxed to allow seamless involvement of players with disability and also provide opportunities for playing at different levels.

"The DP World Tour has provided playing opportunities at the top level and alongside elite non-disabled players at European Tour Events,” said Kipp Popert, one of the tournament’s favourites and eight-time winner of the Golf For Disable circuit.

On his part, Peter Kanyago, Chairman of the Kenya Open Golf Limited expressed his honour to have been given the rights to host the tournament for the first time in Africa. He noted that it was a sign of how golf has grown in the country.

"As a country, we are extremely honoured to host the first-ever Golf For Disabled tournament in Africa," he said.

"This is a true indication that golf in the country has completely evolved to attract highly acclaimed international tournaments.”
