Kenya Rugby Union chairman Alexander ‘Sasha’ Mutai has announced that Tendai Mtawarira, a Zimbabwean-South African retired World Cup-winning professional rugby union player will grace the upcoming World Rugby U-20 Trophy Tournament.

Mutai announced the news with excitement during a media briefing at the Nairobi National Park on Tuesday, June 27.

He noted that Mtawarira, popularly known as the Beast, will be attending the tournament from July 27 to the final day of the matches. The event is scheduled for July 15 to 30 at the Nyayo National Stadium.

“We shall have a special guest…The Beast Mtawarira is coming. He is a World Cup winner, a legend and he’ll be here from July 27th to the final day of the event.

We have a legend coming in, an African and world legend, and this just shows how much the world rugby has confidence in KRU,” Mutai said.

Mtawarira has 117 caps and he is the most capped prop in South African history and the third most capped Springbok of all time behind Victor Matfield and Bryan Habana.

He is also the 17th most-capped international forward of all time and the fifth most-capped prop of all time. He is also a 2019 Rugby World Cup Winner.
