Bryne Omondi has been a consistent presence in goal for Harambee Stars, starting from their opening 1-0 win over DR Congo, through the hard-fought 1-1 draw with Angola, and most recently, playing a key role in the 1-0 victory against two-time CHAN champions Morocco.

In the clash against Morocco, Bryne Omondi delivered a standout performance, producing at least six decisive saves that denied the two-time CHAN champions any chance of taking the lead.

The former Tusker FC goalkeeper revealed that he has put in the work in training, and once he was selected, he wanted to showcase his ability to guide Harambee Stars to victory.

Bryne Omondi added that getting the award during Harambee Stars’ match against Morocco was a huge motivation for him to continue putting in the work.

“It’s not even about trust; it’s about how we train, and the one who gets the opportunity has to give his best. This award is a huge motivation; at least it makes me feel good and pushes me more because we want to win the tournament,” Bryne Omondi said.

“We have a whole week to prepare for the whole match, and I must admit that we are still targeting a win.”

Bryne Omondi added that he was mentally prepared to face a tough Morocco side, revealing that he was not expecting to walk away with a win.

He disclosed that his family is his pillar of strength, especially during this tournament, noting that he dedicates the ‘Man of the Match’ award to them.

“Coming into this match, I knew it would be tough, and I’m happy that we walked away with a win. I want to dedicate the man of the match award to my family because they have always walked with me and prayed for me,” Bryne Omondi added.

“I’ve gotten a lot of support from my fellow goalkeepers and keeper trainer, and that is what has helped me make a mark in this tournament.”

With his confidence high and motivation renewed, Bryne Omondi now turns his focus to the crucial clash against Zambia, determined to build on his stellar performances and help Harambee Stars push closer to CHAN 2024 glory.
