Mutahi Bischoff, who attracted the interest of Premier League clubs like Wolves and Sunderland, chose to join RB Salsburg, rivals to Ryan Ogam's Wolfsberger in the Austrian Bundesliga.
Harambee Stars hopeful Clement Mutahi Bischoff revealed that his September move to RB Salzburg came after a difficult period at Brondby, triggered by a collapsed transfer to Brighton last winter.
The final day of the transfer window last September was hectic for Bischoff. While at the Denmark U21 national team camp, his phone rang, setting off a fast series of events.

Vincent Harper Focused on Walsall Fight After Shock Exclusion from Harambee Stars
Walsall defender Vincent Harper focuses on the Newport match after an FA Cup win, despite being unexpectedly dropped from Kenya's squad.
"It all happened very quickly," Bischoff told Bold. "I arrived at the camp on deadline day, wondering if something might happen. And then it did."
"I had to travel back to Copenhagen and fly to Munich, so a lot was going on. It's been a bit up and down with not much sleep, but I'm starting to feel settled again and I'm looking forward to the upcoming match against Wales."
Having learned from past experiences, Bischoff, who was born to a Kenyan father and a Danish mother, stayed cautious about celebrating the move prematurely.
"I've learned along the way that nothing is certain until it's in black and white on a piece of paper, so I was never completely sure," he explained. "But I had a feeling. I still reported for national duty just in case it fell through, so I could be with the guys."
"It resulted in a bit less sleep, but that was a priority I was willing to make."
Why Salzburg Over Wolves and Sunderland?
After the failed move to Brighton, clubs like Wolves, who wanted to replace Romain Ait Nouri, and Sunderland also showed interest in Bischoff. However, he ultimately chose RB Salzburg.

Equatorial Guinea Name Star-Studded Squad for November Friendly with Harambee Stars
Nzalang Nacional has named a strong squad for friendlies against Kenya and Zambia, with returning veterans but without Nsue.
At Salzburg, Bischoff has made five league appearances, scoring once and assisting twice, plus two Europa League games.
The Austrian Bundesliga club is becoming a hub for Kenyan talent. Fellow Kenyan Ryan Ogam recently joined Wolfsberger AC, another team competing in Austria’s top flight.
When asked why the transfer had to happen now, Bischoff was honest about his struggles at Brøndby:
"It was the right move for me right now. I needed to go and try something different," he said.
"Although I had hoped and dreamed of achieving more with Brøndby, it just wasn't the right fit anymore. I could feel that I needed to get out and test myself elsewhere, and I think Brøndby understood that."

Benni McCarthy Hands Gor Mahia Duo Late Call-Ups as Harambee Stars Get New Opponents
Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy has added two Gor Mahia players to his squad for this month’s friendly matches against Equatorial Guinea and Senegal.
"It has been difficult at Brøndby. I've spent some time on the bench, and the way we played didn't always suit me. On the other hand, I have so much love for the club, so it was also a very tough decision."
Bischoff described the rollercoaster ride following the failed Brighton transfer:
"The period after that [the failed Brighton transfer] was very inconsistent for me, moving in and out of the team without playing much. It was a rollercoaster. When I came back from that, I had expected to play in every match, just as I had in the autumn."
He concluded with his reasons for moving abroad: "It wasn't so much that a foreign club was calling for me; it was more about the entire situation," Bischoff said.
"I just felt I needed to try something new. I could feel towards the end that I wanted to test myself somewhere else, and hopefully, I can return in many years."
Mutahi Bischoff has enjoyed a good run of form for Salzburg. He has made five league appearances, scoring one and registering two goals, and also made two Europa League appearances.
Should he continue his rise, it is inevitable he will create a dual nationality battle, with both Denmark and Kenya likely to go into a tag of war to eventually lure his services.
