The former Wazito winger netted his first goal for the Bankers in their 1-0 win over Mathare United last Saturday.

KCB head coach Zedekiah Zico Otieno has challenged Musa Masika to help take KCB to the next level with his experience ‘despite his young age’.

Masika signed for KCB in the mid-season as a free agent after leaving Wazito on a free transfer at the end of last season, and has constantly looked like the bankers biggest threat virtually every match, hitting the post on numerous occasions, but he finally found the back of the net with a well-executed free kick in their 1-0 win over Mathare United.

“He is a player who can take us to the next level (if he adds more consistency) with his experience,” he said, “He is a young player age wise but with a lot of football experience,” he added.

“His football experience is something that should motivate him going forwards. He is getting into good goal scoring opportunities but he is not taking them but now that he has finally scored his first goal for us, it is a big boost for us going into the last matches.”

Zico has revealed his concern at his charges' lack of efficiency in front of goal. Although KCB posses the best defensive record in the league, they have the worst attack in the top half of the FKFPKL table having scored just 32 times all season.

“The way we play, I think we are the side that creates the most goal scoring opportunities in the league. We take statistics in each and every game but it is a concern.

“ However, as a coach we only teach the build up play and how to get to the scoring area but the last touch is the players’ issue. We cannot do anything. For instance, Kip( Nicholas Kipkirui) had a chance (against Mathare) where he only needed to meet for the first time from five yards out and he missed.

“Sometimes, it is about the players individually. They need to look at themselves in the mirror and do better.”

KCB are currently 5th on 57 points, nine behind leaders Tusker with three matches of the season left to play.
