Westlands MP Timothy Wanyonyi joined the throngs of AFC Leopards' supporters in warmly welcoming Associacio Esportiva Ramassa to Nairobi, as the Spanish football team gears up for a landmark match against the FKF Premier League giants.

This match set to unfold on Sunday afternoon at the Nyayo National Stadium forms the highlight of AFC Leopards' 60th-anniversary celebrations.

The Spanish contingent, consisting of 20 players, touched down on Saturday morning at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where they were greeted by Ingwe officials.

The anticipation for the match has been building, especially after the team's inspection of the Nyayo National Stadium, a key moment that was attended by MP Wanyonyi among other fervent Leopards fans.

"Today (Saturday) was a joy to welcome Associacio Esportiva Ramassa from Spain to Nairobi at Nyayo Stadium! They're gearing up for the much-awaited exciting match against AFC Leopards, marking the pinnacle of Leopards' 60th anniversary celebrations on Sunday, March 24th, also at Nyayo Stadium," MP Wanyonyi expressed his enthusiasm.

In his reflections, Wanyonyi underscored the importance of this match not only as a celebration of the past but also as a stepping stone towards a brighter future for AFC Leopards.

"As we reflect on AFC's rich history and look to the future, my vision is for AFC to thrive financially, attracting massive crowds to matches, and emerging as one of Africa's premier teams! Let's continue supporting AFC Leopards as they embark on this exciting journey post-60 years," he added.

The weekend's festivities are not just limited to the match against the Spanish team.

AFC Leopards has organized a series of games, including a match for their women's team, AFC ladies, who will compete against Kisii Queens (Shabana Ladies).

Furthermore, a nostalgic encounter is scheduled between the AFC Leopards legends and Gor Mahia legends, reviving the historical rivalry for fans to enjoy.

In a strategic move, AFC Leopards chose to celebrate their anniversary during the FIFA international break, accommodating a packed schedule that includes a showdown with their arch-rivals Gor Mahia and the Premier League debutants Shabana.

To kick off the celebrations, AFC Leopards held a dinner on Friday, March 22, aimed at fundraising to support the club's future endeavors.

As the community rallies behind AFC Leopards, the excitement is palpable, with MP Timothy Wanyonyi's encouraging words resonating among the fans, "Let's continue supporting AFC Leopards as they embark on this exciting journey post-60 years."
