Wanyama picked Brazilian icon Ronaldo as his best-ever striker while naming Spain and Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta as the best-ever playmaker.

The former Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton midfielder then picked Spurs defender Cristian Romero as the best Premier League player right now, an interesting selection, while going for his ex-Saints teammate Sadio Mane as the best African player currently.

Wanyama named Spain and Real Madrid great Sergio Ramos as the best defender of all time, Cristiano Rinaldo as the player with the best aura while settling for current Ballon d’Or holder Ousmane Dembele as the best player in the world right now.

The 34-year-old was then asked to name his best African player of all-time and he went for Nigerian legend Jay-Jay Okocha, who mesmerised fans with his skills when turning out for clubs in Europe such as Eintracht Frankfurt, Fenerbahce, Paris Saint-Germain and Bolton Wanderers in the Premier League.

Okocha, who won the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations and 1996 Olympics gold with Nigeria, was an entertainer par excellence whose legacy still lives on.

Wanyama’s pick will likely generate further debate among fans as some might feel players like Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto’o, Mohamed Salah and even Yaya Toure perhaps edge Okocha due to the fact that they were not just as talented but also led their clubs to numerous titles.
