FOOTBALL Update: Kenya U20 to face Zimbabwe in opening match of Four Nations Tourney as Zambia withdraw

Rising Stars will now be playing Zimbabwe in their first match on Friday and not Malawi as initally scheduled following Zambia's withdrawal.

Zambia Under 20 has withdrawn from the Four Nations tournament that will take place in Lilongwe this week.

Consequently, the competition will now feature three teams: Kenya, Malawi, and Zimbabwe.

Due to this alteration, the tournament format has been revised from knockout to round-robin. The commencement date has also been brought forward; matches will kick off on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, instead of the previously announced date of Thursday, March 21, 2024.

Furthermore, there has been a change in venue for the Under 20 matches. Originally slated to be held at Bingu National Stadium, they will now take place at Silver Stadium.

While the Under 20 category undergoes adjustments, the schedule for the Senior National teams remains unchanged, with all four teams participating as initially planned.

Zimbabwe's Under 20 National team has already arrived in Lilongwe, touching down on Sunday. Meanwhile, Kenya's Under 20 squad is anticipated to arrive on Tuesday.

In regards to the Senior National teams, Zimbabwe's contingent will arrive in Lilongwe in two groups. The first group is expected to arrive this afternoon, with the final group scheduled to land on Tuesday. Zambia's arrival is also slated for Tuesday, while Kenya's Harambe Stars will touch down on Thursday.
