Nigerians have taken to social media to voice their frustration at Super Eagles head coach Finidi George following the substitution of Alex Iwobi.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria suffered a shocking defeat to Benin Republic in the fourth game of the World Cup qualifiers.

Finidi’s men took the lead in the first half through Raphael Onyedika, following an excellent play from the defence.

However, the Super Eagles were unable to hold on to the lead, allowing Benin Republic to get an equaliser and a late lead.

Fans react to Iwobi’s substitution

Nigerians are pissed with Finidi George after deciding to substitute Alex Iwobi in the 55th minute for Paul Onuachu.

Iwobi was one of the creative outlets for the Super Eagles and made sure the team had more possession of the ball.

However, immediately after he was substituted, the team lost control of the game and attempted more direct passes, which proved to be ineffective.

The team played more loose passes and failed long balls into the final third, which failed to pose any threat to the Benin Republic's defence.

Another fan replied, “This is the worst coach the Super Eagles have ever had.”

Another fan commented, "Asin, eh! I am just confused. He now brought in 2 strikers who needed supply.”

The loss leaves the Super Eagles without a win in their last four games and remain in fifth place in Group C.
