Shabana head coach Sammy Okoth reflects on his team's late-game struggles after a 1-1 draw against FC Talanta.

Shabana FC head coach Sammy Okoth has expressed his concerns about his team's vulnerability in the dying moments of matches following their 1-1 draw against FC Talanta on Friday.

The Glamour Boys found themselves trailing in stoppage time when Kevinton Machika netted a late goal for FC Talanta.

However, the resilient Shabana side did not let despair take hold as they managed to salvage a point with Justine Omwando's equalizer just two minutes later.

This nail-biting encounter was not an isolated incident for Shabana, as they experienced a similar heartbreak in their opening round match against Murang'a Seal. Batts Awita scored a last-gasp winner for Murang'a Seal in the 90th minute, once again highlighting team susceptibility in the late stages of games.

Speaking after the intense encounter against Talanta that was played at Nyayo National Stadium,Okoth acknowledged the challenges his team faced.

"The game was tough all along, and both teams had limited chances. After losing our previous match, we needed maximum points, but at least we secured one point, and I can't complain,” he said.

Okoth, a man dedicated to improving his squad's performance, highlighted the critical issue at hand: "In our opening match against Murang'a Seal, we also conceded in the closing stages of the match, so we have some issues to work on with the players."

On the other side of the pitch, FC Talanta's coach, Ken Kenyatta, found satisfaction in the outcome of the match, despite the late equalizer.

"The game was fine, and as a coach, I enjoyed the game. In football, there is a draw, lose, and win. We ended up with a draw, but we were so close to securing a win. Unfortunately, we conceded with just three minutes remaining until the end of the game," Kenyatta said.

Looking ahead, Coach Kenyatta remained optimistic about his team's prospects as they head to their next match against Murang’a Seal.

"We are going to work on and rectify the mistakes that we saw in our upcoming match, which I plan to win,” Kenyatta concluded.

Shabana now faces the daunting task of addressing its late-game vulnerabilities before their next game against Kenya Police FC, which will be after the international break.
