Tore Bobe secured a comeback win against Muhoroni FC in a tightly contested FKF Premier League match at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium, Kisumu

Shabana FC came from a goal down to beat Muhoroni FC 2-1 in a 2023/24 FKF Premier League match at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium, Kisumu on Monday afternoon.

The Glamour Boys claimed the win with quick goals from Matthew Tegisi and Enock Agwanda, a result that keeps them in 17th position, just one point behind Muhoroni in 16th, with both teams in the drop zone.

After a somewhat tentative opening from both teams, Shabana had the first shot on target in the 18th minute when Samuel Maiko drove a low volley from outside the box, but Muhoroni goalkeeper Morgan Ambuka made a comfortable save.

The hosts gradually began to find their rhythm in attack and they nearly found the back of the net in the 32nd minute through Regan Otieno but his shot was well saved by Shabana goalkeeper Fredrick Odhiambo.

Shabana kept on building pressure in attack, but they were sucker-punched by Muhoroni in the 41st minute, as Lucky Ochieng got on the end of a dead-ball delivery and put the hosts 1-0 up against the run of play.

Brian Michira had the first chance of the second half, striking just off target from a long-range effort in the 47th minute as Shabana looked for an equalizer.

Muhoroni opted for attacking changes just after the hour mark, introducing Emmanuel Juma and Dennis Owino in an effort to get back into the match. The former had a sight of goal on 70 minutes when he was found by an Alex Onchwari cross, but his volley flashed high and wide of the mark.

Shabana pulled level in the 76th minute as Matthew Tegesi netted a rare goal.

Four minutes later, Tore Bobe hit the front in superb fashion. Second-half substitute Enock Agwanda showed great skill to send the ball past Ambuka from a penalty awarded by referee Peter Kamaku.

Muhoroni applied all the late pressure in pursuit of a point and Vincent Otieno had a chance to level matters at the death, but he failed to find the target from an acute angle with Odhiambo out of the picture.

In the end, Shabana did enough to earn all three points on the day.
