Manchester United fans could not hide their joy as Ghana prospect Omari Forson became the latest academy graduate to be unleashed when the teenager started against Fulham.

Manchester United fans expressed their delight at seeing 19-year-old attacker Omari Fosron handed his Premier League start for the Red Devils.

With striker Rasmus Hojlund injured, manager Erik ten Hag made true his promise of involving the youngster, starting him right away in attack, as he was deployed on the left wing during Saturday’s Premier League clash against Fulham at Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford led the attack in the absence of Hojlund with Alejandro Garnacho on the right with United seeking to use the pace of their forwards to dim their opponents.

“We had to replace Rasmus Hojlund and then you look for the best balance of the game and also the progression and development of the players and what they are showing through training sessions,” Ten Hag said of the youngster just before Saturday's match.

“He has come in now twice against Newport and Wolves when he had a very good moment when he was decisive in setting up the goal for Kobie Mainoo so he deserves to play and now he has to show it.”

United fans took to social media to express their excitement over having three academy graduates starting together in attack.

“Rashford, Garnacho, Kobbie and Omari Forson La Carrington counter attack,” said one fan.

“A Manchester United front three of all academy players plus Mainoo bossing the midfield is basically the reason I watch football. Best of luck to Omari Forson today,” was the observation of another supporter.

“19-year-old Omari Forson starts for Manchester United against Fulham. Huge chance for him to show everyone what he’s about,” said another one.

“Omari Forson very tidy on the ball. Very technically clean in his short passing. Nice bits of close control to retain possession when surrounded.”

“Kobbie Mainoo, 18 years old. Alejandro Garnacho, 19 years old. Omari Forson, 19 years old. All starting for Manchester United at Old Trafford, alongside fellow academy product Marcus Rashford - with Scott McTominay, Toby Collyer & Willy Kambwala on the bench. That's special.”

Forson's journey with Manchester United began in January 2019 when he made the switch from Tottenham Hotspur. Rising through the ranks of the club's youth teams, he played a pivotal role in the Under-18s FA Youth Cup-winning team in 2022, sharing the spotlight with current first-team stars Mainoo and Garnacho.

As a versatile attacking player, Forson has primarily featured as an attacking or wide midfielder in United's youth teams. His adaptability was evident when he seamlessly replaced Hojlund in a recent victory against Wolves.

Prior to this, Forson showcased his skills in the pre-season tour, featuring on the left-wing against Leeds United in Oslo and earning a start against Borussia Dortmund during the tour of the United States.

Forson, who was born in London to Ghanaian parents, has played for England at U15, U16, U19 and U20 levels and is eligible to represent Ghana if he opts against the Three Lions.
