Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga and Al Duhail faced disappointment on Friday in a Qatar Stars League clash against Umm Salal.

Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga and his Al Duhail suffered a heavy blow on Friday night as they fell 1-0 at home to Umm Salal in a Qatar Stars League (QSL) clash at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.

This setback marked Duhail's second loss of the season, putting a halt to their aspirations of extending their winning streak in the league to four matches.

Their previous QSL match against Al Rayyan had seen Olunga shine with a spectacular brace.

Olunga, fresh from his scintillating performance, had netted twice against Istiklol to secure a crucial 2-0 victory in the AFC Champions League Group E.

However, despite clocking a full 90 minutes in the match against Umm Salal, he was unable to find the back of the net, despite two or three promising chances.

The turning point in the match came in the 64th minute when Umm Salal went ahead, courtesy of Dutchman Oussama Tannane.

Olunga, who had emerged as the top scorer in the Qatar Stars League over the last two seasons, thought he had found an equalizer in the 75th minute of the match, but his goal was ruled out, leaving Al Duhail frustrated.

The loss left Al Duhail in fourth place on the league table with 16 points from eight matches.

On the other hand, Umm Salal moved to the sixth spot with 14 points from 10 matches, a result that surely bolstered their confidence in the competition.

Olunga's performance has been a source of pride for Kenyan football fans, and they continue to rally behind their star player as he represents both his club and country on the international stage.

While this loss may be a setback, there is no doubt that Olunga's talent and determination will see him continue to make headlines and contribute significantly to Al Duhail's quest for success in the Qatar Stars League.
