Shabana have will play in Kenya’s top-flight division after a seventeen-year hiatus.

Former Kenya Ports Authority Dan Manduku has challenged the leadership of Shabana fc and the largely Omogusii fanbase to collect a minimum of one hundred million shillings for the promoted club to stage a successful season in Kenya’s top-flight football division.

Manduku drew his calculations from his past at Kenya Ports Authority where he ran coastal outfit Bandari fc and warned his peers in parliament to fetch ways and means of collecting the required figure.

“Running a football club is not a joke. It takes more than the few thousands you are giving here to run the team in a top-flight division. I know that because that was what I sued to allocate for Bandari and it was hardly enough,” Manduku challenge a number of lawmakers who gathered at Bomas of Kenya on Thursday

Calls for the club management to separate the team from antagonistic politics also reverberated from MP Sylvanus Osoro.

The legislator wants Shabana management to streamline their operations to reap from merchandise sales.

Shabana was treated to a luncheon by the Cabinet Secretary of Education Ezekiel Machogu who tasked the club’s hierarchy to form a committee bringing together the entire Omogusi community to marshal funds for Shabana.

Former FKF president Sam Nyamweya will lead the fundraising committee alongside other luminaries drawn from various sectors of the economy.

CS Machogu dropped names from various sectors and put in motion the revenue collection vehicle for Shabana.

Government chief whip Sylvanus Osoro is tasked with marshalling members of parliament while Zahir Jhanda will bring in the business community.
