Coach Neil Lennon has challenged Victor Wanyama and his Dunfermline teammates to step up their goal-scoring efforts despite recent hard-fought wins.

Coach Neil Lennon requires more from Victor Wanyama and his teammates ahead of Dunfermline Athletic’s clash against Partick Thistle on Saturday, April 19.

He challenged the players to score more goals, insisting that one goal alone is not enough, after Dunfermline Athletic’s 1-0 win over Queen’s Park.

Neil Lennon lauded the players for a great job, but insisted that they need to show up more and not leave the goal-scoring duty to just one person.

The former Celtic FC coach pointed out that the players have been showing up faithfully for each game and dominating, but scoring has become a major issue, something that needs to be addressed before it is too late.

"We played, most of the time, the way we wanted them to play. At East End Park, it's different. Because it's so dry, and hard and bumpy, you have to play the game a certain way,” he said as per the Dunfermline Press.

“The surface definitely helped that performance. My frustration is that we are dominating a lot of games, we look physically good, and I need that second goal to go in!

“Like all managers, you always need that second goal, just to relax, and then you're playing bingo at times with the substitutes, because I'm still getting to know them all. It's two wins, two defeats. It's not bad."

The former Hibernian manager revealed that he intends to get the best out of the team, noting that the people at Dunfermline are the best.

He revealed that seeing them win is an achievement for him, and it fulfils his soul, hence the obsession to always make sure they win.

"The club is under my skin. There are good people here, and you want to do well for them. There's a lot of happy faces, but I said to the players, ‘Look, it's all about feeling in the game. It's not about medals and money, it's about the feeling you get from a win,” he said.

"You can't replicate that feeling. They'll go home tonight and get a real buzz out of it, but we've got to go again Monday."
