FKFPL Matano handed huge boost as defender Boniface Onyango returns to full training

The tough-tackling defender required knee surgery after he suffered ligament damage in a game against Police FC on January 28.

Tusker defender Boniface "Kajos' Onyango has been put through his paces in full training as Brewers prepare for Sunday's clash against Gor Mahia.

The 23-year-old is still waiting for his first appearance in yellow and black since January, having undergone surgery on a knee injury.

Kajos has been absent for Tusker's last 21 games in all competitions, leaving Daniel Sakari to primarily shoulder the defense burden alongside Kevin Monyi, Levin Odhiambo.

Tusker has continuously refused to place a timeline on Kajo's recovery, but he was expected to spend around three months out of action in total, leading to hopes of a comeback at some point in May.

Over the past few weeks, Kajos has slowly been building his fitness back up at Ruaraka, having started fitness work and individual training in April.

In a significant boost to Matano's thinned defensive ranks, Kajos was able to take part in full training on Wednesday morning.

Whether the former Kariobangi Sharks man will be considered for a comeback on Thursday is another question, as Matano is still slowly re-integrating him back into team sessions.

Should Tusker continue to adopt a cautious approach over Kajos' fitness, the defenders could make his first-team return before the end of the season.

Kajos underwent surgery in mid-February after he suffered ligament damage during his last assignment for the Brewers, which was against Police FC on January 28.

Tusker lies on top of the log with 64 points from 30 matches played this season.
