Real Madrid star Luka Modric was spotted shedding tears while granting an interview to Spanish news media outlet El Chiringuito TV after their 4-0 loss to Manchester City.

The defending champions were whooped by the more determined City side who were playing in front of thousands of their home fans.

Bernardo Silva scored a double in the first half while an own goal from Eder Militao and a late Juliano Alvarez strike was enough to put Pep Guardiola’s men into the final.

Modric’s emotional moment

After the game Modric was spotted crying while speaking to Spanish news media outlet El Chiringuito as the team were about leaving the Etihad into the bus.

The 2018 Ballon d’Or winner had a bad night as he only completed 76% of 36 passes in the game where Real struggled to keep possession of the ball.

As quoted by Sportskeeda, the Croatian midfielder wants Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti who approved of his contract extension that he should remain as coach of the side.

“Carlo Ancelotti deserves to stay as Real Madrid coach also next season.”

Ancelotti’s blunt assessment

Ancelotti also admitted that his team made too many mistakes trying to hold on to possession and it cost them dear in the first half.

The Italian gaffer also admitted that his team lost to a better side and added he will remain at the bank to help Madrid reclaim the title.

Real Madrid’s 2022-23 campaign ended on the disappointing note, winning only the Copa del Rey trophy while surrendering their La Liga title to Barcelona.

There are still four games left to play in La Liga and Los Blancos only have a two-point gap ahead of city rivals Atletico Madrid.

The Galacticos will play their remaining games of the season against relegation-threatened Valencia, Rayo Vallecano, Sevilla and Athletic Club.
