Manchester City beat Chelsea to reach FA Cup Wembley

City bounced back quickly from their midweek disappointment in the Champions League by focusing on defending their FA Cup title against Chelsea.

The Blues came into the match with confidence after a big win over Everton, setting the pace for an exciting start at Wembley.

City dominated the ball for most of the first half but struggled to create any chances, with Chelsea looking the more dangerous side on the break.

Just before halftime, Cole Palmer almost scored against his former team with a strong shot that Stefan Ortega had to be alert to parry.

Heavily involved but struggling to find a clinical touch, Jackson saw two shots denied in quick succession before Foden forced a save from Petrović at the other end.

Determined to break the deadlock, Jackson then found himself in a race with Kyle Walker but he came off second best with penalty appeals ignored.

However, playing in an FA Cup semi-final for a record sixth consecutive season, City’s experience paid dividends, snatching a late goal to break Chelsea hearts when Petrović toed De Buyne’s pass into the path of Silva, who forced the ball in from close range.
