Nigerian youngster Gift Orban has come in for criticism among Lyon fans, but the 21-year-old forward has gotten support from a legend of the club

Less than a week after joining Olympique Lyonnais, 21-year-old Gift Orban has found himself at the center of controversy.

French journalist Romain Molina recently reported that Orban's behavior was causing unrest within the team's dressing room. The club's captain, Alexandre Lacazette has now stepped forward to respond to these allegations, standing up for his young counterpart.

Molina's Claims and Background Issues

According to Molina's report, the €12 million signing from Nigeria was being criticized for his attitude during training sessions at Lyon.

Molina even suggested that the club might not have thoroughly examined Orban's background, as similar issues had arisen at his previous clubs. The journalist's remarks raised concerns about the young forward's ability to fit into the team.

Lacazette Defends Orban

In a press conference held on Friday, Alexandre Lacazette came to the defense of his new teammate, Gift Orban. Lacazette commended Orban's character and expressed support for him. The former Arsenal forward revealed, "He's quite funny. He says a lot of things ironically. For those that didn't figure him out at the start, it may have seemed a bit weird, but he has a lot of humor. He is hungry to progress, help the team, and score goals."

In Lacazette's view, Orban's sense of humor and eagerness to contribute to the team are valuable qualities that should not be overshadowed by initial concerns. The club will undoubtedly be watching closely to see how Orban's integration into the squad develops and whether he can overcome the reported issues.
