Kenya Police beat Posta Rangers with a late goal from Clinton Kinanga in the FKF Cup Round of 32 match.

Kenya Police grabbed a late win when they overcame Posta Rangers 1-0 in a FKF Cup Round of 32 clash at the Police Sacco Stadium on Saturday.

The Law Enforcers had booked their place in the Round of 32 after securing a 2-0 win over Football Kenya Federation Division Two Side VEGPRO 2-0 at home in a preliminary round encounter on January 28.

Kenya Police started strongly and forced sharp saves from Posta Rangers goalkeeper John Njau in the early minutes, with striker Tito Okello causing all kinds of problems with his pace and physical presence.

Rangers settled down and began to dominate possession, though they struggled to create chances with which to test out Police goalkeeper Patrick Matasi.

In fact, the hosts nearly claimed the lead on the half-hour mark when Samuel Onyango forced a shot on target, but saw Njau deny him with another good save.

Rangers improved as the match progressed with former City Stars attacker Oliver Maloba and Brian Otieno combining well as they looked to break the deadlock for the visitors.

Kenya Police were then able to contain Posta Rangers and the score was 0-0 at the interval following a first-half which had a few chances.

The hosts saw most of the ball after the restart with Oliver Maloba pulling the strings from midfield for Kamau's side.

The former Thika United coach decided to introduce Vincent Wasambo and experienced John Macharia in order to increase pace in the attack.

Kenya Police continued to search for a late winning goal in the closing stages of the encounter and they got it with five minutes remaining to the end of the clash.

Substitute Clinton Kinanga was the hero for the visitors as the experienced attacker beat Naju to seal Kenya Police 1-0 win with Aboud Omar providing the assist after the Rangers defence was exposed.
