KEFOFA have strongly condemed fan violence witnessed at Gusii Stadium before Shabana's clash with Gor Mahia.

The Kenya Football Fans Federation (KEFOFA) have actively spoken out against the ugly scenes witnessed before Shabana’s home FKF Premier League clash against Gor Mahia at the Gusii Stadium in Kisii on Sunday.

The fans clashed ahead of the much-awaited game at the Gusii Stadium, which was scheduled to start at 2 pm.

In a video seen by Pulse Sports, some of the fans could be seen throwing stones while others tried to scamper for safety.

The chaos erupted from two stands at the regular section housing fans from both teams when they started pelting stones at each other, leaving scores with injuries.

The game was still allowed to go on, with Gor Mahia emerging winners in the end thanks to a goal by Sylvester Owino from a corner kick by Bryson Wangai, after he attacked the back post unmarked to head into the back of the net.

Efforts by the Stadium announcers to request the fans to remain calm were futile, as they continued throwing stones.

They continued to make repeated appeals for calm before urgently requesting ambulances to transport the injured to nearby medical facilities.

“KEFOFA strongly condemns the violent incidents that occurred at Gusii Stadium , where Gor Mahia and Shabana supporters engaged in disorderly conduct, resulting in injuries and disruption of the beautiful game,” the statement signed by CEO Shem Okotta and seen by Pulse Sports said.

“Football is meant to unite, not divide, and such acts of hooliganism have no place in our sport.

We urge all fans to uphold sportsmanship, respect fellow supporters, and embrace the spirit of fair play. The passion for football should be a force for positive engagement, not conflict.

"KEFOFA calls upon the relevant authorities to take swift action in strengthening security measures at match venues to ensure the safety of all attendees.“

Additionally, the federation recommended for the application of three key proposals in efforts to curb such acts in the future.KEFOFA called for enhanced security at match venues and outlined three key solutions to address the recurring issue of fan violence:

Structured dialogue sessions between rival fan bases to promote mutual understanding and reduce hostility.

Fan education programs aimed at instilling responsible support and emphasizing football’s role as a tool for unity.

Collaboration with clubs, FKF, and security agencies to design and enforce robust stadium safety protocols.

“Let us stand together in solidarity and say NO to hooliganism,” the statement concluded.

“We remain committed to ensuring football remains a safe, enjoyable, and unifying experience for all.”

The federation’s intervention comes amid growing concern over fan safety and conduct at local matches, with many now calling for stricter enforcement of stadium regulations and stiffer penalties for offenders.
