Kakamega Homeboyz and Kenya Police faced Mara Sugar and Migori Youth respectively in friendlies,.

Football fans had their appetites whetted on Sunday afternoon as two of Football Kenya Federation Premier League's teams, Kakamega Homeboyz and Kenya Police, took to the field for friendly matches.

However, by the end of the two showdowns, both teams were left ruminating on missed opportunities, as both encounters ended in 1-1 draws.

Kakamega Homeboyz faced off against Mara Sugar in what was pegged to be a riveting encounter. With the venue being the Kakamega High School, Homeboyz had the advantage of familiar territory.

However, Mohammed Baraza of Mara Sugar shocked the crowd in the 55th minute, finding the net and giving the visitors an unexpected lead.

For most of the match, it looked like Homeboyz would be left reeling from another disappointment, especially after opening the 2023/2024 season with a 1-0 defeat to newcomers Murang’a Seal.

As the clock ticked down, Homeboyz's savior arrived in the form of Oscar Paul who found the back of the net in the 85th minute.

While the game was a preparatory match ahead of their showdown with Tusker, the late equalizer hinted at the grit and determination within the Homeboyz's squad.

Meanwhile, at Police Sacco Stadium in South C, another drama unfolded. Kenya Police, searching for their form after a winless start to the FKFPL campaign, locked horns with Migori Youth.

Missing the likes of Patrick Matasi, Aboud Omar, and Tyson Otieno due to national duties, the Police team showed depth and character.

Clinton Okoth of Migori Youth, undeterred by the imposing stadium and the presence of the Police squad, broke the deadlock midway through the second half.

With the clock working against them, Police found their hero in Clinton Kinanga, who managed to restore parity with only five minutes left on the timer.

For the Homeboyz, the focus will undoubtedly be on their next game with the same intensity they end them.

Kenya Police, on the other hand, will be keen on transforming their newfound resilience into match-winning performances, especially with the return of their stars.
