FKFPL Jitters creep into Gor Mahia camp after another slip up

Coach McKinstry loudly rued K'Ogalo's missed chances and silently, the inability to use potent players unregistered due to past infractions.

The mood at FKF Premier League leaders Gor Mahia is starkly different from a bubbly feelings of two weeks ago when the record Kenyan champions seemed to be on a roll towards another title.

The two-all draw on the back of a debilitating loss to struggling Mathare United has wipe the aura of invincibility that was slowly building up at Gor Mahia and now even coach Jonathan McKinstry id fearful of the future.

The Brit was blunt about K'Ogalo's woes but is limited in his bid to address the shortfalls of the team as Gor Mahia is not able to register new players owing to a FIFA embargo.

“We knew it would be a tough match when two teams on the league table came head to head.

It was a game that we should have won even at the end you saw Boniface Omondi had a great chance and should have hit the target.

We come out of here a little bit disappointed because we did not take three points, but when you are playing your nearest rivals in the league, and you maintain that gap in an away game, I think that is the key,” said the tactician who knows he could use the unregistered arsenal in Gor Mahia fold.

Gor Mahia are still on top of the league standings with 38 points, two points above second-placed KCB, who won 1-0 against FC Talanta. Just how long is the question everyone asks as opponents smell their vulnerabilities.

The draw saw Nzoia Sugar drop to third position on the table with 34 points from 18 matches.

However, Nzoia coach Salim Babu was proud of his charges for maintaining their impressive form at their backyard Sudi Stadium.

“It is not easy for teams to win here because of the high confidence level and fan base.

We have to fight to keep this record because it is possible as long as we continue with the way we have been playing. It is the confidence that kept us pushing even when we were behind against Gor,” said Babu.

Gor Mahia’s next match is against Bidco on Saturday at Nyayo Stadium, while Nzoia Sugar will travel to Mombasa for a date with Baandari FC on the same day at Mbaraki Grounds.
