Harambee Starlets striker Jentrix Shikangwa has been nominated for the 2022-2023 Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Season award in the Tanzania Women's Premier League.

The 21-year-old striker bagged the Golden Boot after bagging 17 league goals this season.

Shikangwa joined Simba Queens at the start of the season from Turkish top-flight side Fatih Karagumruk on a one-year contract.

The forward made her national team debut for Kenya during the 2019 CECAFA Women's Championship in Tanzania, where Starlets won after beating the hosts 2-0 in the final.

She also helped Vihiga Queens win the Kenyan Women's Premier League three times during her stint with the side.

Apart from Shikangwa, Simba has another nomination in the Golden Glove category, where goalkeeper Gelwa Yona is on the list.

Queen's coach Charles Lukula has been nominated for the Coach of the Season award following his exploits with the former league champions.

The Ugandan coach joined the club in October last year after he guided Ugandan champions She Corporate to a runner-up spot at the CECAFA Champions League zonal qualifier in Tanzania.

He had also previously worked with Bunamwaya (Vipers), Police FC, Kirinya JSS (Busoga United), Soana (Tooro United), Maroons, Nyamityobora, and MYDA FC, among others.
