The 21-year-old Harambee Starlets striker joined the Tanzania side in September last year.

Simba Queens striker Jentrix Shikangwa has won the Tanzania Women's Premier League Golden Boot after notching 17 goals in the 2022-2023 season.

On a dramatic final day in the league, Simba kicked off their match against Ceasiaa Queens, and they needed maximum points and hoped that other results would go their way for them to lift the title.

It was a game of few chances, with neither side creating clear-cut opportunities on goal throughout the first stanza and both sides appearing to settle for a share of the spoils.

However, Shikangwa managed to break the deadlock in the 66th minute when she utilized the loose ball by firing home a right foot shot into the left corner, and Queens walked away 1-0 winners at the end of the match.

Coming into the match, Simba Queens were one point behind new champions JKT Queens, and they could have been declared the winners if the Army Side lost to Mkwawa Queens.

However, JKT claimed a 3-1 win over Mkwawa in a match played at CCM Stadium in Iringa on Wednesday afternoon.

The 21-year-old ended the season on 17 goals to become the first Kenyan player to take home the TWPL Golden Boot gong.

Shikangwa joined Simba in September last year from Turkish top-flight side Fatih Karagumruk after her long-term contract with the team ended prematurely.

She moved to Turkey from four-time FKF WPL champions Vihiga Queens in January 2022 and joined the newly promoted outfit for the 2021-22 Women's Super League season.
