Stephy Mavididi came clutch for Leicester City once more in a victory in the Championship over Huddersfield.

Super Eagles duo Wilfried Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho put up a decent showing, as Stephy Mavididi inspired Leicester City to their second victory of the Championship season.

The Foxes went away to John Smith's Stadium to face Huddersfield as they continued their mission to return to the Premier League after a successful 2-1 victory over Coventry in the first game of the season.

New signing Mavididi continued his impressive showing for Enzo Maresca's men, grabbing the winner against The Terriers after setting up Drewsbury Hall in a similar fashion against Coventry a week ago.

How it happened

Leicester came into this match with two wins in two playing in official games as a Championship team, and they were expected to pick up the win against Neil Warnock's men.

Maresca's team did control the game early on, as expected, but their hosts looked dangerous in transition.

The Foxes kept the bulk of possession, but the Terriers were not lacking in threat. However, neither team managed to land a telling punch in the first half.

Warnock's half-time team talk seemed to have sparked the right reaction from his players, as Huddersfield threatened to forge ahead at the start of the second 45, but the visitors stayed resolute and soon led a period of dominance of their own.

Leicester were soon rewarded for their industry, and the duo that combined for the winner against Coventry did so again today. Hall found Mavididi, who in turn finished brilliantly past Lee Nicholls.

Huddersfield had a late hurrah in an attempt to find an equaliser, but the 2015 Premier League champions held on to maximum points.

Ndidi and Iheanacho game by numbers

The Super Eagles striker got a well-earned starting berth as he scored and assisted in Leicester's midweek EFL Cup victory over Burton.

He played 67 minutes today before he was replaced by Jamie Vardy on the pitch, and in his time on the pitch, he had two shots on target and two shots away from the mark. He also created a goal-scoring opportunity while maintaining 95% passing accuracy.

Ndidi, on the other hand, came on in the 55th minute for Wants Marcal-Madivadua. He created two chances in his 35 minutes on the field of play.
