Ibrahim Joshua has celebrated his return and impactful performance for Tusker FC.

Tusker FC striker Ibrahim Joshua has expressed his delight after playing a pivotal role in his team's resounding 4-0 victory over Shabana FC at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homabay last Sunday.

The forward, who has been on a gradual return to first-team action following a lengthy hiatus due to a knee injury, was instrumental in two of his team's goals.

His shot led to a deflection by George Onyango for the second goal of the match, and he also provided the assist for Shaphan Siwa’s goal, marking a triumphant performance that underscored his significant recovery and impact on the field.

"I really feel great and I thank God. This performance shows that patience pays, and I want to thank my teammates for pushing me in every game. They always encourage me to keep working and that a goal will eventually come," he said.

The Tanzanian international, sidelined for nearly a year and a half due to the knee injury that has plagued him since 2022 also highlighted the challenges he faced during his time off the pitch.

“I have gone through a really tough period, and I am thankful because now I am slowly getting better. Everything has its time, and I am happy to have assisted two goals. It gives me motivation to keep doing better,” he added.

Joshua's return adds a new dimension to Tusker FC's attack, injecting both depth and quality.

The competition for starting places between him, Deo Ojok, and Eric Kapaito is intense, but Joshua sees it as a healthy rivalry that benefits the team.

“For us as a team, I think anyone who is given a role to start will always give a good account. Whether it is Ojok, Kapaito, or me who scores, it does not make a difference. It is Tusker which wins. Whoever is on top will always start, and we are there to support each other,” he emphasized.

The victory over Shabana FC was a statement of intent from Tusker FC, who bounced back to winning ways emphatically.

Apart from Joshua's contributions, goals from Deogratious Ojok, Shaphan Oyugi, Joseph Mwangi, and an own goal from George Onyango sealed the victory for the brewers.

This win propels Tusker to fourth in the FKF Premier League standings, amassing 34 points from 21 games and narrowing the gap to the table leader, Gor Mahia, to ten points.

Looking ahead, Tusker FC is set to host KCB FC at Machakos Stadium on Sunday, February 18, 2023.
