Shimanyula has revealed the reason behind his intimidating approach against top opponents en route to FKF Cup victory.

Kakamega Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Shimanyula has explained the reasons behind his daring bravado prior to huge games as the club upset the odds to lift their maiden FKF Cup title on July 1.

Abana Abeingo beat Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards, and Tusker en route to winning their maiden cup that came with the benefit of qualifying for next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.

Shimanyula has revealed that his confidence in players is the reason why he always takes a bullish approach to big games.

“I am a person who believes in himself so much. I am not one to be intimidated. Once I have seen something is possible, it is possible,” Shimanyula told Pulse Sports.

“I am the one who told AFC to come with painkillers because they would have had migraines and you saw they suffered from migraines (in their 2-1 semi-final win over Ingwe) because I believe the kids can do what I want them to do.

“You remember I told Gor that they would not win the league on my watch, and you see that is what happened (Homeboyz beat Gor 3-2 in their penultimate league clash).

“Recently, I spoke about Matano and people fearing him because of his ‘witchcraft’. I made sure he would sack his witch doctor and look for another and he probably did (after we beat him in the cup final).”

Meanwhile, the business tycoon has also said he is open to allowing the club to attract more sponsors in order to help them in their quest to lift a maiden league title and do well in the Confederation Cup next season.

“We cannot shut the door on any potential sponsors. Our agreement with Mozzart (Bet) is not limited and is open,” Shimanyula said.

“We want a lot of sponsors but we are happy (to be organic). We are a team that has been built from the ground up. This is a community club. Not a company club. Even you (the media) own the club, just as I and the people of Kakamega do.

“They say it is Shimanyula’s club. This is not Shimanyula’s club. Shimanyula just drives the vehicle, it is not his."
