Juma’s return to the club could be a welcome addition as they are trying to beef up their squad with experienced players in order to help them in their quest to make the group stages of the Champions League for the first time in their history.

Reigning FKF Premier League champions Gor Mahia could be set to confirm the signing of Juma from Rwanda’s AS Kigali.

Juma was spotted shaking hands with ICT cabinet secretary Dr. Eliud Owalo on the CS’s Twitter handle, which naturally prompted speculation of a return to the club.

The ICT boss is known to be a massive follower of K’ogalo and has shown the charitable side of himself by supporting the club on numerous occasions financially last season.

However, a cryptic message posted on his account suggested that he may have held talks with the Kenyan international about a return to the club.

“Pleased to have a chat, this evening, with former Gor Mahia midfielder, Lawrence Juma, on soccer in general - now and before and what the future portends,” Owalo wrote on his Twitter page.

Pulse Sports Kenya understands that Owalo is known to be Gor Mahia’s “fixer” and his talks with Juma could be signs that he is attempting to lure the midfielder back to the green army.

Juma’s return to the club could be a welcome addition as they are trying to beef up their squad with experienced players in order to help them in their quest to make the group stages of the Champions League for the first time in their history. The 28-year-old midfielder first joined Gor Mahia in 2017 from Nzoia Sugar.

He enjoyed a four-year stint at K’Ogalo winning three-back-to-back league titles before ditching them in 2020 after receiving a two-year lucrative deal from Batoto Ba Mungu.

During his time at K’ogalo and Sofapaka, Juma established himself as one of the premier midfielders in the league, which earned him a national team call-up to the Harambee Stars under the then head coach Francis Kimanzi.

At Sofapaka, he won the Midfielder of the Year award in 2021. He would then leave Kenya for Rwanda in search of greener pastures, featuring for AS Kigali for the past season, but was unable to help the club reach the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.

His side also finished a rather disappointing fourth in the recently concluded Rwandan National League season.
