Pulse Sports highlights the FKFPL players you should keep an eye on in 2024
The 2023/24 FKFPL season has approached its midway point, as the business side of it now kicks off in order to separate the boys from the men.
With plenty at stake for all the 18 participants this season, fans will be keeping a close eye on several players this season.
Some players will either need to get to the next level having played in the top flight for a considerable amout of time, while others will want to prove they belong at there.
Here are some of the players that could have a monumental 2024:
10. Chris Erambo - Tusker
)
Chris Erambo has taken to top flight football like a duck to water for Tusker ever since making his debut against Muhoroni Youth just days after signing back in September.
Rambo signed from National Super League side Mombasa Elite, and then Joined Tusker without ever having played a minute of top flight football for another club.
The spirited midfielder is already showing why Robert Matano had unwavering faith in him, with his versatility proving key for how they want to set up.
Erambo can play as a deep-lying playmaker, advanced or an advanced midfielder, but as Tusker have sought to get a replacement for Humphrey Mieno who left for Sofapaka this season, Erambo has managed to step up to the task with his range of passing, and has gotten mature with each passing game.
Expect his star to continue shining bright this year.
9. Estone Esiye - Kakamega Homeboyz

Estone Esiye has been at the heart of Kakamega Homeboyz’s rise to a surprise title challenge in 2024, especially having been moved further back by head coach Patrick Odhiambo.
Esiye, who initially used to play as an attacking midfielder, has been played deep because of his passing range, where his diagonal balls can find the flankers on the counter-attack, which is how the Abana Abeingo have been slaying large giants this season.
His ability to also take set-pieces is another weapon in his Arsenal that gives Homeboyz an edge, and with his aim being to generate as many assists as he can from deep, he is one to keep an eye on in 2024.
8. Francis Kahiro - KCB

The lanky striker has become an important part of Bernard Mwalala’s plans at KCB this season, scoring goals for fun, with his six goals so far this season making him the league’s second highest goalscorer behind Benson Omala.
Kahiro is excellent at stretching the opposition with his pace and movement, and is very good at causing chaos with his link-up play, willingness to run those channels and his anticipation.
He was not starting a lot of games under previous head coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno last season, having bounced back from injury, but with his aim being to break into the national team this season, he will be hoping he can keep improving.
7. Ben Stanley Omondi - Ulinzi

Ben Stanley Omondi has struggled to hit the ground running since signing for Ulinzi on loan from Migori Youth at the beginning of the season.
Omondi, who had an impressive debut top flight season for Sofapaka, where he scored three goals and registered seven assists, has not had a hand in goals or assists for the Soldiers, but has shown glimpses of quality so far in his career in Lang’ata.
As Antony ‘Modo’ Kimani seeks to start getting the side to become more consistent in front of goal, Omondi is one player he will be hoping can start stepping up and inject flair and creativity into the team in order to relieve the burden on Boniface Muchiri.
6. Geoffrey Onyango -Kariobangi Sharks

The speedy striker has shown flashes of brilliance with his ability to play on the defender’s last shoulder and get into goal scoring positions this season.
He currently leads Sharks’ goalscoring charts with five goals, spearheading a youthful William Muluya-coached outfit.
Sharks have created a reputation for nurturing young talents before selling them for a profit, and Onyango already looks like one of those players who will also be on the move should he continue showing the promise he already has.
5. Robinson Asenwa - Nairobi City Stars

Robinson Asenwa has gone from signing from Division One side Vipers FC to starting for Nairobi City Stars, playing a key part in their impressive run of form especially having managed to displace Kevin Etemesi, who scored 12 league goals last season.
Asenwa has been brilliant all season. Etemesi is a player who thrives off rhythm, while Asenwa’s adaptability levels are very high. His ability to run those channels and sniff at potent goalscoring opportunities is invaluable for Nicholas Muyoti.
There is optimism he can make a big contribution in the Simba wa Nairobi’s remaining games of the season.
4. Kevin Juma - Gor Mahia

Kevin Juma was signed from last season’s surprise title challengers Nzoia Sugar. Since making his debut for the 20-time league champions, he has managed to cement himself as a key member of the side.
Juma is a good passer of the ball who can dictate the tempo of the game from deep, which are the exact qualities he brought to the side when he signed.
He gives K’Ogalo the freedom to be more adaptable depending on the opposition and the sky looks like the limit for the soft-spoken midfielder.
3. Hassan Beja -AFC Leopards

Another one who played a big part in Nzoia Sugar’s surprise title challenge last season, Hassan Beja has started becoming a big part of AFC Leopards under Tomas Trucha.
Revered for his electric pace and willingness to stretch defences, Beja, who has looked lively every time he has made a substitute appearance, was given a rare chance to start against Kakamega Homeboyz in December and was arguably the man of the match for his display, having scored his maiden goal for the club.
Beja will be hoping to build on from that performance by keeping Cliff Nyakeya and Jaffari Owiti out of the team in efforts to keep impressing Trucha.
2. Chris Opondo -Bidco United

There are more honourable names at Bidco United to keep a close eye on, such as Sharrif Musa and Martin ‘Zizou’ Mbugua, who have been a handful for a lot of teams in the first leg of the season due to their speed, flair and creativity, but Chris Opondo is another one who has been causing waves.
Opondo’s speed, trickery, willingness to find the target, as well as good set-piece deliveries have earned Anthony Akhulia’s men vital points this season, and with the club hoping to secure a top 10 finish by the end of the season, Opondo is one of those that will have to take responsibility.
1. Brian Musa - Posta Rangers
)
Brian Musa, who is being linked with a move to AFC Leopards has been key to John Kamau’s build-up play this season from deep in midfield.
Kamau’s charges have an emphasis on building play from the back and work the ball into the box. Musa is good at creating overloads in the first and second phase of play which in turn draws markers towards him and creates space for the attacking players to get into goal scoring positions.
With Posta seeking to win their maiden league title this season considering they sit second on 29 points, just five behind leaders Gor Mahia, Musa will be key to ensuring they continue playing brilliantly to win.
