Gor Mahia have finally announced the purchase of a new state-of-the-art team bus, eliciting excitement amongst their supporters

Gor Mahia players can now breathe a sigh of relief as they will be chauffeured in a state-of-the-art bus starting this weekend after the club revealed that they have been gifted a new team bus by ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo.

Gor chairman Ambrose Rachier finally confirmed reports that had been circulating on social media over the impending acquisition of the bus, saying the CS, through the Eliud Owalo Foundation, has lived up to his promise of gifting the club a team bus.

“It is an Isuzu bus, body built by master body builders. It is 42-seater bus, originally it was 62-seater but for comfort of long-distance travel, we have cut off 20 so that there are only 42 with five first and business class seats just behind by the driver,” Rachier told the media on Tuesday.

“It is donated by Eliud Owalo Foundation. It is custom and fully paid for. The bus has already been registered by NTSA under KDN 068. As you know, 68 is significant for Gor Mahia as it is the year it was founded,” he added.

Rachier further revealed that the unveiling of the bus will be done at Kasarani Stadium on Saturday morning ahead of the team’s Premier League clash against Murang’a Seal, with Owalo leading the ceremony.

This purchase comes after a spell of K’Ogalo enduring financial difficulties. The club initially had a minibus for the team’s use but it was reportedly auctioned by an ex-player who was owed arrears following his successful legal battle against Gor Mahia.

Owalo had promised Gor a bus in April when he hosted the team and gifted them an Ksh800,000 bonus for winning five straight league matches.
