He has already been linked with clubs outside the country, like South Africa’s Orlando Pirates.

Former Gor Mahia forward Ronald Okoth has called on Benson Omala to consider a move in the upcoming transfer window.

Omala is having a sensational season with Gor Mahia; he has scored 25 goals and is a clear leader in the Golden Boot race.

His exploits will surely attract suitors in the next transfer window, and Okoth has urged the youngster to consider a move if a suitable opportunity knocks on his door.

In 2021, Omala signed a loan deal with Linkoping City of Sweden, but he ended up returning to Gor Mahia when he failed to settle.

"He previously went somewhere else, and it did not work because maybe it was difficult for him to adopt," Okoth told Pulse Sports.

"This is a different year, and he is still maturing, but if the opportunities come, he should go out there and explore. At the end of the day, football is all about money.

"He needs not to shy away from trying himself in a different environment. If the right opportunity comes, let him embrace it."

During the Mashemeji Derby showdown at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday, Omala missed a penalty as Gor Mahia went on to lose 2-1 to AFC Leopards.

To Okoth, a former KCB and Sofapaka forward, Omala should not be worried by the missed spot kick since it is a learning process.

"It gives him a lot of motivation despite the fact that it was disappointing to lose a penalty," he concluded.

"It was brave for him to take that penalty because he is already the top scorer. He has been taking them anyway, and you know the penalty can go either way.

"It went out, and I think it is because of the nerves that come from the derby pressure. But it is a learning process for him as a player, and he has a lot of time to keep learning."

Given what he has delivered so far, Omala is expected to play a vital role in the remaining matches as Gor Mahia hope to wrestle the Premier League title from Tusker.
