Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane shares his Kenyan family connection

South African legendary coach Pitso Mosimane, who recently parted ways with UAE side Al Wahda, seems to have found a recurring theme in his career – the pursuit of new challenges in far-flung destinations.

Since his departure from Mamelodi Sundowns in 2020, Mosimane's journey has taken him across the globe, often culminating in unexpected career moves.

One notable transition occurred when Mosimane left Sundowns, opening the door for Kenyan defender Brian Mandela to make his mark at the club.

The towering central defender has since been confirmed at Sundowns for the next three seasons, but rumors of his signing had already swirled during Mosimane's tenure.

Many may not realize that Pitso Mosimane has strong ties to Kenya, a country he intends to visit soon for holiday.

In a recent podcast interview on Sports Live with BBK, Mosimane revealed, "We have two families we always travel together. Last time we went to Zanzibar, a beautiful place in East Africa that is in Tanzania. I love Africa, I miss Africa"

Mosimane's affinity for Kenya goes beyond just travel. He explained, "I have a family in Kenya because one of my father's brothers moved there during the time of apartheid. You know the story where people go away to exile and they never come back, he stayed there. He married there, and that Mosimane clan is there."

During his tenure at Sundowns, Mosimane publicly expressed his admiration for former Simba SC defender Joash Onyango, fueling speculations about his interest in Kenyan talent.

Even during his stint at Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia, Mosimane was rumored to be considering the signing of Brian Mandela.

Brian Mandela, who has spent over a decade in the Premier Soccer League (PSL), might welcome a change of scenery after not always being a regular starter at Sundowns.

With his current market value at a reasonable fee, this potential move could align with Mosimane's past comments about PSL players being perceived as too expensive.

Mosimane's football journey, marked by his exploratory spirit and unwavering commitment to the game, continues to capture the attention of football enthusiasts around the world.

As he looks ahead to his next coaching project, his connection to Kenya and the allure of uncharted football territories could play a pivotal role in shaping his future endeavors.
