Samuel Chukwueze was one of 10 players signed by AC Milan in the summer, but Fabio Capello says the transfer was an error from the Serie A giants.

Former England boss Fabio Capello has described AC Milan’s summer signings as an error after watching the players struggle to make an impact.

Milan signed ten players, including Nigeria’s Samuel Chukwueze, but the summer arrivals have had a difficult start to life at San Siro.

The former Juventus and Milan manager expressed his thoughts in his latest column, according to Italy-based Sempre Milan.

According to the legendary manager, the signing of Chukwueze and nine others was an error by his former employers.

“The heavy turnover in the summer was a risk for Milan,” he stated. “The owners invested 132 million euros in ten players, but not all of them have proved to be up to the task, at least not yet.”

Speaking on Chukwueze, Capello noted that the 24-year-old  Nigerian has become shy and is yet to show the wonderful things he did in Spain.

“I think of Chukweze who in Spain, with the Villarreal shirt, did wonderful things,” he added.

“At Milan, however, he is still a shy player. A question of settling in, of course, but also pressure because the Rossoneri shirt weighs more than the others, withstanding the impact of a stadium like San Siro requires a considerable amount of personality.

“Like the Nigerian, other newcomers are also struggling. It is a sign that the summer Mercato was important but perhaps some evaluation errors were made in the planning phase.”

Chukwueze to get Fiorentina chance

Meanwhile, despite a difficult start to life in Italy, the Nigerian winger is in line to face Fiorentina this weekend.

Milan welcome Fiorentina to San Siro on Saturday, with the former Villarreal star expected to take the place of Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud, who will miss the game due to injuries.

Chukwueze has assisted just one goal in eight appearances for AC Milan this season.
