Nzoia Sugar had Emmanuel Osoro’s late goal to thank as they returned to winning ways since matchday one while Sofapaka were at the end of a thrashing from FC Talanta.

Nzoia Sugar FC ended their eight-match winless run when Emmanuel Osoro scored a last-minute goal to hand them a 1-0 victory against Kariobangi Sharks at the Sudi Stadium on Saturday.

With the match seemingly headed for a goalless draw, Nzoia made a late foray forward before Osoro found himself in space, and rounded the goalkeeper to hand his side a vital win in the 90th minute.

The victory eased pressure on coach Godfrey ‘Solo’ Oduor who had not tasted a win since the opening match of the season and had lost five straight matches before Wednesday’s barren stalemate with FC Talanta.

The victory lifted Nzoia from the bottom two on the table to 14th on the log with nine points from 10 games while Sharks are eighth with 13 points as they continue their inconsistent run that has seen them win, draw and lose in the last three encounters.

Meanwhile, in Machakos, Sofapaka’s woes continued as they were handed a 3-0 defeat by FC Talanta who continue to impress so far this season.

Sofapaka held on for a goalless first half but Talanta would open the floodgates 10 minutes after halftime with Augustin Kuta finding the target.

Talanta kept probing and got their reward seven minutes from time when Danson Kago danced his way into the box, causing pressure on Nixon Omondi who scored inside his own net for 2-0.

Kevin Tom Machika would hammer the final nail in Batoto ba Mungu’s coffin with the third goal three minutes from time to secure maximum points which leaves them fourth on the table with 15 points, five behind leaders Posta Rangers who have a match in hand.

For Sofapaka, it is more trouble as they remain at the bottom of the 18-team table with seven points from 10 games, having lost seven matches while winning just two.
