The two teams are currently in the relegation zone after a poor season thus far.

FC Talanta will look to keep their heads above water in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) when they host fellow strugglers Vihiga Bullets at Kasarani Annex on Wednesday afternoon.

Talanta are winless in their last four league games, having drawn 0-0 with Nzoia Sugar in their previous match.

Ken Kenyatta's charges have claimed five points from eight home matches this season, with their last win as hosts being a 3-2 victory over Mathare United in mid-January.

Talanta trio of Alvin Ochieng, Brian Yakhama, and Kevin Otieno are expected to miss the clash against Wazito as they continue to recover from their respective injuries.

The Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK) backed side are currently placed 14th on the league standings with 14 points from 16 matches and are one point above the relegation zone.

Recently, Kenyatta blamed their lousy run this season for lack of training grounds and unpaid salaries.

"We don't have a field, we have not been paid for 10 months and recruitment is a big problem because you cannot convince someone to come to FC Talanta and they don't pay. It is very tricky to coach a team that is not being well taken care of. The team is in my hand.

The performance you see from the players is because they are not motivated at all. You can't expect much from a player," Kenyatta said.

Their visitors, Vihiga Bullets find themselves in the 18th spot on the league standings with four points from 15 matches.

Vihiga's losing streak continued on Saturday when they fell to a 1-0 loss at the hands of Kakamega Homeboyz on Saturday 25 February.

The Milton Kidiga-coached side has claimed one point from seven away matches this season, with their only draw on the road being an impressive 3-3 stalemate against Kariobangi Sharks in late January.

Kidiga will be under pressure to guide the team to his first win since he took over the reins after George Owoko's departure in mid-February.

Vihiga will look to Vincent Ogolla, who has been one of the side's best performers this season, having netted six of the 12 goals that the club has scored this season.

In the head-to-head stats, Talanta and Vihiga have met in two league matches, with both teams claiming a win each.

Vihiga Bullets won 2-1 when the teams last met at the Bukhungu Stadium in March 2022, thanks to goals from Brian Ochieng and Zablon Cheroti.
