Charles Akonnor confirmed that Gor Mahia are awaiting medical assessments to determine the seriousness of Shariff Musa's injury following their win over Kakamega Homeboyz.

Gor Mahia head coach Charles Akonnor has revealed that the extent of Shariff Musa's injury remains unclear following their narrow 1-0 victory over Kakamega Homeboyz.

Shariff Musa was handed a starting role and made an immediate impact on the right wing, bringing his trademark intensity to the game. Inside the opening three minutes, he nearly registered an assist with a precise cross to Felix Oluoch, whose effort was well saved.

Throughout the first half, Shariff Musa proved a constant menace to the Homeboyz defence, using his pace and movement to stretch the backline.

His relentless pressing and intelligent runs played a key role in creating the space that allowed Alpha Onyango to score the decisive goal in the 19th minute, giving K’Ogalo the lead.

However, Musa's promising display was cut short in the latter stages of the match after he was caught in a heavy challenge while driving into the penalty area.

Unable to continue, he was stretchered off in the 75th minute, drawing concern from the Kasarani crowd. He was replaced by Austin Odhiambo as part of a double substitution intended to inject fresh energy into the attack, though the change was clearly enforced by the injury Shariff Musa sustained rather than a purely tactical decision.

Speaking after the match, Charles Akonnor explained that Shariff Musa had featured in the match despite picking up an injury, noting that the extent of the problem was not yet clear.

He said the medical team would conduct a full assessment to determine the severity of the injury, and added that a clearer picture of Shariff Musa’s condition was expected after further evaluation by the doctors the following day.

“Shariff played, and you saw he is injured and we don’t know how serious it is, but of course our doctors will look at him and by tomorrow, we shall know exactly what is wrong,” Charles Akonnor said.

Gor Mahia are holding out hope that Sharrif Musa will be fit to feature in their final match of the year against Nairobi United this Sunday.
