AC Milan star-forward Rafael Leao has penned down a new five-year contract extension at the Italian club, The Athletic has confirmed.
The winger has been attracting huge interest from a host of European giants including Liverpool and Chelsea, but has chosen to stay till 2028.
Leao is enjoying a hugely impressive season with the seven-time UEFA Champions League winners, contributing 13 goals and 13 assists so far this campaign.
The Portuguese International was also a key pillar during his side's Scudetto triumph last season, which brought Milan their first Serie A title after over a decade.
Overall since joining Milan from Lille in 2018, Leao has so far scored 40 goals and made 31 assists in 125 matches across four seasons.
Meanwhile, a few hours to the first leg semifinal of the Champions League with nemesis Inter Milan, it’s not yet certain whether the 23-year-old star will feature.
He picked up a thigh injury in the first 11 minutes against Lazio on Saturday in the Italian Serie A.
As AC Milan competes to hit the Champions League final this year, their future in the competition for next season is far from assured, as they sit fifth in the Serie A behind Inter, Lazio, Juventus, and Napoli.
Winning the Champions League would earn the club their first European triumph since 2007 and also secure their status in the competition ahead of next term, making the Inter game even more significant.
