Bitter rivals Real Madrid, Barcelona beat Man United as most followed clubs on social media

The CIES Football Observatory reveals the most followed clubs on social networks with LaLiga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona at the top ahead of Manchester United.

LaLiga giants Real Madrid and FC Barcelona have been named as the most followed clubs in the world ahead of English giant Manchester United on social media.

This is according to a report by CIES Football Observatory as monitored by Pulse Sports Nigeria.

Real and Barcelona lead the list of 100 clubs listed by CIES in their report with a focus on four different platforms, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.

According to the CIES on the latest issue of their statistical report, Los Blancos and their bitter rivals have the most followers on social media.

Real topped the list with a whopping 362 million followers across the four platforms in view, with Barcelona second with 342 million followers.

A further breakdown of the followers shows that Real are the most followed on Facebook with 117 million of their total followers there, and 135 million on Instagram. 79.7 million on Twitter and 30.8 million on TikTok.

Meanwhile, Barcelona lead the way on Twitter with 82.8 million followers but fall short of Real elsewhere.

Barcelona had a memorable evening in Espanyol.

Premier League club Manchester United sit a distant third on the list with 206 million followers.

Making up the top five are French giants Paris Saint-Germain with 187 million followers followed by Italian Old Lady, Juventus, who have 144 million followers.
