Moses Muhangi, the president of the Uganda Boxing Federation, has been a focal point of contention in the lead-up to the elections.

The African Boxing Confederation's (AFBC) Extraordinary Congress in Durban set to decide the next president of the federation has been postponed.

The decision follows a heated disagreement regarding the nominee list for the top role.

The Pulse eSports independence Cup is set to take place on 9th October 2023

In a communication sent out today, AFBC Secretary General, André Basile Kalong, relayed the unexpected news to the 50 Member Federations.

"The postponement is motivated by the difficulty most delegates have in obtaining visas and the uproar caused by the disputed publication of the list of definitively selected candidates," Kalong elaborated in his letter.

Moses Muhangi, the president of the Uganda Boxing Federation, has been a focal point of contention in the lead-up to the elections.

Despite a considerable push to exclude him from the nominations, Muhangi remained listed as a contender for the AFBC presidency.

This inclusion didn't come without its challenges.

A stern "Vote of No Confidence" statement was put forth on September 30 by several countries operating under the African eligible National Federations umbrella.

Their contention revolved around the desire to see Muhangi's name removed from the ballot.

In response to the financial issues raised against him, Muhangi provided proof of having settled the previously contested funds.

As corroborated by a document made available to Pulse Sports Uganda, the payment was cleared as of October 2nd, 2023.

Following this, the International Boxing Association (IBA) endorsed Muhangi's eligibility on Monday, enabling him to vie for the presidency.

Muhangi is expected to face stiff competition from candidates such as Berhanu Eyassu Wossen, El Kabbouri Mohamed, Mendouga Bertrand Magloire Roland, and Omo-Agege Siena Azania.

However, in an interesting rebuttal, the IBA dismissed the previously mentioned "Vote of No Confidence."

They declared that it holds "no legal force due to lack of competence" on the part of the questioning National Federations.
