Former Vapor FC defender scored his first league goal sparking joy and marking a significant milestone in his football career.

AFC Leopards defender Emmanuel Lwangu has reacted with joy and pride after making his sixth start of the season in the FKF Premier League match against FC Talanta on Sunday.

The match played at Dandora Stadium, saw Leopards secure a 3-1 victory, with Lwangu scoring his first-ever league goal and his first goal as an AFC Leopards player.

Lwangu's milestone came when he headed the ball into the net from a perfectly delivered corner by Brian Wanyama.

“I’m happy to have scored my first goal and the opener for the match. It’s a feeling every player wants to have, especially scoring in front of a packed stadium, all supporting you," Lwangu expressed with excitement.

"There was a rush of adrenaline. It was a mixture of pride and joy."

The goal was especially significant as it came in the absence of experienced defender Kennedy Owino, who missed the match due to suspension after accumulating five yellow cards.

Ingwe coach Tomas Trucha entrusted Lwangu with a starting position pairing him with Gideon Were in central defense.

“It was a perfect delivery, correct timing of the ball, and a decent diving header," he noted.

Reflecting on his performance and progression this season, Lwangu acknowledged the support and guidance he has received from the team's technical bench and experienced players.

“So far so good, it has been quite enriching and a very good experience. With the help of our technical bench and other experienced players in the team, I have been working on different aspects of the game, and I have seen some significant improvement,” he noted.

Lwangu's journey to the FKF Premier League stage has been one of dedication and perseverance.

Starting his football career at Vapor FC having honed his skills at Kakamega Primary and Kakamega School.

His participation in the 2018 secondary school championship was a major highlight setting the stage for his professional aspirations.

Before joining AFC Leopards in the 2022/23 season, Lwangu showcased his talents with Western Division 1 side Green Commandos.

Since making his debut for AFC Leopards in the 2023/24 season opener against FC Talanta at Nyayo Stadium he has been steadily earning his place in the team.
