Mudryk flirted with Arsenal in a series of cryptic social media posts.

Despite snubbing Arsenal for Chelsea in the eleventh hour, Oleksandr Zinchenko does not habour any bad blood towards his Ukranian compatriot Mykhailo Mudryk.

The Gunners were linked with Mudryk for the better part of the January transfer window but the 22-year-old eventually joined the Blues in an £88million deal.

Arsenal were left to settle for Brighton & Hove Albion forward Leandro Trossard who has had an impressive start to life at the Emirates Stadium, scoring one goal and providing six assists.

Zinchenko admitted that he wanted the former Shakhtar Donetsk forward to join Arsenal but wished him well after opting to join Chelsea.

“I told him: ‘It’s gone already, it doesn’t matter what you wanted, what the other guys wanted. Now you’re a Chelsea player, you signed a long-term contract and you have only one option, only one way, direct and forward’.

“Unfortunately he didn’t become an Arsenal player – as I wanted personally! – but it’s life,” Zincheko told Daily Mail.

Mudryk flirted with Arsenal in a series of cryptic social media posts but the Premier League log leaders and Shakhtar failed to agree on a fee with Chelsea moving in to seal the deal.

The Ukrainian has however struggled to adapt to life at Stamford Bridge despite a promising start in his debut against Liverpool and only has one assist against Leicester City.

Zinchenko also revealed that when Mikel Arteta left Manchester City back in 2019 he was left emotional due to the impact of the Spaniard.

“I remember when Mikel was leaving City (in 2019). ‘I didn’t hold my emotions. I couldn’t because this guy was so special to me.

“He taught me a lot As a human being he was incredible and the way he was working with us young players after every single training session, the advice he was giving everyone, was something incredibly important for me,” added Zinchenko.
