Antonio Conte’s time at Tottenham could end this week as reports of his impending sacking circulate.
Conte upset over poor Tottenham attitude
The Italian manager was already set to depart from Tottenham at the end of the season when his current contract with the club expires.
Still, that process could be sped up, especially in light of recent developments.
Conte’s reign as Tottenham manager reached its lowest point this weekend as the former Juventus and Chelsea manager went on a 10-minute tirade following his team’s draw against Southampton in which he complained about the attitude at the cub and undermined the history of the club.
With Tottenham already out of all domestic and international cup competitions, and also 20 points behind the leaders of the Premier League table, the only hope of salvaging the season was in securing a top-four spot, but even that was put in jeopardy by the draw against Southampton.
Conte's outburst leaves him on the edge of Tottenham exit
The Telegraph reports that as a result of Conte’s outburst, Tottenham’s upper hierarchy has held meetings which should see the Italian manager leave the club as soon as this week.
If the reports are confirmed, it will bring Conte’s reign to a premature end after less than two years in charge of Tottenham.
It is unlikely that Tottenham will be able to replace Conte before the end of the season even if he is sacked this week as rumoured, with former caretaker manager Ryan Mason expected to handle the team until the end of the campaign.
