Gaspo Women FC goalkeeper Pauline Kathuru is recovering at home after being discharged from hospital.

The 28-year-old goalminder suffered an arm fracture during a Football Kenya Federation Women's Premier League clash against Ulinzi Starlets and had to be rushed to PCEA Kikuyu Hospital.

Kathuru was initially unconscious following the incident, and many feared the worst but thankfully, scans showed just a fractured radius bone of the right arm.

"Pauline's journey of recovery has started after being discharged from hospital where she had a successful surgery," the club said in a statement.

Prayers poured in from football fans, fellow players, and coaches for the young player since the incident.

Kathuru joined Gaspo in November 2022 after cutting ties with Tanzania Women Premier League giants Yanga Princess.

The former Fountain Gates Princess keeper had joined Yanga Princess after ditching her current employer Gaspo.

During her previous stint at the club, Kathuru kept clean sheets in 13 matches in the 2021/2022 season.

She was also part of the provisional Harambee Starlets squad for the 2022 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers.

Meanwhile, Gaspo Women are set to play Nakuru City Queens in a premier league match at GEMS Cambridge grounds on Sunday.

Gaspo are on top of the standings with 24 points from 11 matches and have lost only one game this season.
