Harambee Stars Defender Joseph Okumu Poised for Career-Defining Clash Against European Giants PSG in French Cup Final
Should Reims beat PSG in the Coupe De France final, he will become the first ever Kenyan footballer to win a trophy on French soil.
The encounter, held at the BK Arena in Rwanda, was tightly contested from the outset. MBB edged the first quarter 22–15, but Thunder fought back to take a narrow 33–32 halftime lead—capped by a brilliant byline jumper from Evans Ganapamo.
The third quarter saw Thunder find their rhythm, racing to a 53–39 lead, which forced MBB into a desperate timeout. The South Africans responded, but Thunder maintained a 10-point cushion heading into the final quarter.
However, the fourth quarter proved disastrous for the Kenyans. The momentum shifted as MBB turned up the pressure and the game transformed into a back-and-forth battle. With just over two minutes to go, Tyler Ongwe nailed a two-pointer to give Thunder a four-point lead. Victory appeared within reach.
But a controversial foul call on Cheikh Diong handed MBB’s Pete Prinsloo two crucial free throws, cutting the deficit. Although Thunder responded through Adera, Prinsloo, who has now tallied 30 points in the tournament, brought his side within two points—74–72.
Then came the killer blow: with just nine seconds remaining, MBB hit a dagger three-pointer to complete a stunning comeback and seal a dramatic win—keeping their playoff hopes alive.
Former NBA player and MBB head coach Sam Vincent credited the victory to his team's resilience. "We improved our execution and stayed mentally tough. That made all the difference,” he said post-game.

Gor Mahia: How K’Ogalo Can Still Snatch FKF Premier League Title from Kenya Police Despite Latest Stumble
Hanging onto hope, here is how Gor Mahia can still lift the FKF Premier League title despite Kenya Police needing one win from two matches to be crowned.
Despite the gut-wrenching defeat, Thunder showed flashes of their potential. With two games remaining, they still have an outside shot at reaching the playoffs in Pretoria—though they now sit bottom of the four-team Nile Conference with a daunting 0–3 record and a -58 point differential.
If current standings hold, APR and Al Ahli Tripoli would secure the two automatic tickets to the 2025 BAL playoffs, with the final spot up for grabs among MBB, City Thunder, and Morocco’s FUS Rabat from the Kalahari Conference.
For Nairobi City Thunder, it’s now or never. They must regroup quickly and show they can close out games, or their BAL journey will end in disappointment.
