Jamaican sprint sensation Yohan Blake has confirmed his next assignment following his withdrawal from the Diamond League Meeting in Suzhou due to an injury setback.

Jamaican sprint sensation Yohan Blake has been confirmed for the Diamond League Meeting in Rabat, Morocco following his withdrawal from the meeting in Suzhou/Shanghai due to an injury setback.

Blake opened his 2024 season with the 100m at the Miramar Invitational in the US where he faded to finish eighth in the hotly contested race. The Jamaican then proceeded to the Diamond League Meeting in Xiamen, finishing ninth in the race won by world 60m record holder Christian Coleman.

He was confirmed for the next meeting in Suzhou, China, but unfortunately had to pull out due to a hamstring issue and him being confirmed for the 100m is proof that he has recovered and ready to compete.

The two-time World champion earlier this year noted that this year’s Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be his last and he will be hoping to make an impact before exiting the sport. His times of 9.75sec in 100m and 19.44 in 200m are the fastest 100m and 200m Olympic sprints in history to not win the gold medal.

In Olympic history, he has won two Olympic gold medals as part of Jamaica’s 4x100m relay team at London 2012 and Rio 2016, setting a world record of 36.84 that stands to date in London.

"Doing the 200, 100 and relays simply takes a lot out of you, so these are the events I want to focus on. Paris 2024 should be my last dance,” he said in an interview.

He now heads to Rabat, facing a strong field with the intention of bagging his first win of the season. He will clash with fellow Jamaicans Rohan Watson and Julian Forte. Great Britain’s Jeremiah Azu will also be in the mix with American Brandon Hicklin also going for top honours.
