Jamaican sprinter Shericka Jackson has shared a heartfelt message detailing her emotional experience with the relief efforts following the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa in the Caribbean.
The powerful cyclone, which made landfall in Jamaica around October 28, resulted in an estimated $6 billion in damages and tragically claimed the lives of 96 people across the region.
Like many of her fellow Jamaican athletes, Shericka Jackson was deeply involved in the recovery and support initiatives.

She also acknowledged her team’s generosity and commitment, noting that those who donated, volunteered, helped on the ground, or simply offered words of support demonstrated genuine compassion.
The two-time world 200m champion said their actions reassured affected families that even in moments of hardship, unity, kindness, and strength still prevail.
“I’m still trying to find the right words, because last weekend reminded me what true community really looks like,” she said.
“After Hurricane Melissa swept through several parishes and left so many families hurting, my team and I made it our mission to show up in whatever way we could. But the truth is… none of it would’ve been possible without the person who stood with us.
